Questions we hear every week

Allan carefully painting beside protected trim in a room with a covered sofa, dropcloth and neatly arranged tools.

What does your warranty cover?

Exterior painting carries a 10-year labor warranty: if there is chipping, peeling or excessive fading, we come back and correct it at no charge. Interior painting carries a 5-year labor warranty. Cabinet work carries 5 years on labor plus our lifetime touch-up promise, which covers product failure and normal wear and tear at no cost for as long as you live in the home.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry full commercial liability insurance. On commercial jobs we provide the insurance documentation and any other paperwork your property requires before work begins.

What is included in an interior paint job?

Surfaces are cleaned, patched, sanded and primed before two full coats go on. Minor ceiling and drywall repairs are part of the job, and we use premium, low-odor, washable interior paints. See interior painting.

How do you prep an exterior?

The house is power washed, rotted wood is replaced, loose paint is scraped or sanded, bare spots are primed, and then two full coats go on, back-rolled or brushed. See exterior painting.

Do I need to move furniture before you start?

No. We move and cover furniture, protect the floors and keep the work area organized each day. For large or valuable pieces, we agree with you ahead of time what stays, what we move and how it is protected. The rest of the list is on how to prepare for your painters.

Will I know what is going on during the job?

Yes. You get a pre-job email before we arrive. On the first day your Crew Leader reviews the scope with you, and your project manager gives you scheduled updates. The last step is a final walkthrough before we collect final payment.

Can you paint over water stains on a ceiling?

Not without fixing the cause. We first confirm the leak has been repaired, then seal the stain with a stain-blocking primer before the ceiling paint, so the stain does not bleed back through.

"From start to finish, client service was excellent. The painters helped move the big stuff and paid close attention to cut-in detail and clean-up. We had daily walk throughs with the painters and 'The Boss', Luke showed up everyday just to make sure all was good. The seasonal promotional savings helped seal the deal. A young company destined to be and old company. GREAT JOB!"

Can you help us pick colors?

Yes. Book your project and you can have a free one-hour consultation with a design professional. They help with interior and exterior colors, for homes and businesses, cabinets included.

How much does painting cost?

Pricing depends on square footage, ceiling height, trim detail and the condition of the surfaces, so we price every job after we see it. For a first number, get an instant ballpark. We will also tell you up front that we are not always the cheapest, and why.

How do I get an estimate?

Call (317) 517-7208 or request a free in-home or virtual estimate. We set up a visit, walk the job with you and write up the scope, so you know exactly what we will do before we start.

Is carpentry included in the price?

Carpentry and painting are quoted together but scoped separately. Your estimate shows what is painting, what is carpentry and why both are needed. We do not hide repairs inside a painting quote. Light carpentry is included with our premium exterior painting.

When do I pay?

Final payment comes after the final walkthrough, once you have seen the finished work.

How long does a paint job take?

Most single rooms take one to two days. Whole-home interior repaints usually run several days to a week, depending on prep and trim. Most exterior projects take several days to a week, depending on the size of the house and the weather. Most kitchen cabinets take about 3 days. We confirm your timeline at the scope review.

When is the best time to paint the outside of a house?

Late spring through early fall. August through October are the driest months of that stretch in Indianapolis, about 3.2 inches of rain a month against nearly 5 in May and June (NOAA 1991 to 2020 normals), and we schedule every exterior job around the forecast.

How long does exterior paint last in Indiana?

A properly prepared and properly applied exterior paint job in Indiana should last 8 to 12 years under normal conditions.

Do you work in the winter?

Yes, inside. Interior painting goes on all year, so winter is a good time to get rooms, ceilings and cabinets on the calendar.

Do you paint cabinets?

Yes. Doors and drawer fronts are sprayed in our booth at the Indianapolis office, and the boxes are painted in your kitchen. See cabinet painting.

Do you repair wood rot?

Yes, in-house, before we paint. Our main focus is exterior carpentry: wood rot, trim, siding, fascia and soffits. Interior carpentry like baseboards and casing is available too. See carpentry and wood rot repair.

Do you do commercial painting?

Yes. Offices, retail, warehouses, churches, schools and apartment communities. We schedule around your hours and give property managers written estimates with scope, timeline and cost that are easy to pass up the chain. See commercial painting.

Do you work with HOAs on colors?

Yes. Many neighborhoods require color approval before exterior work starts. We can help you through the process and provide the documentation.
